FRACTIONAL & CONSULTING

If you've landed here, there's a good chance something in your organization is harder than it should be. Maybe you know exactly what it is. Maybe you just know something is off. Either way, you're in the right place.

I've been inside organizations like yours. I've sat in the chair you're sitting in, navigated the complexity you're navigating, and built the systems, structures, and teams that let missions actually land. I know what it takes, and I know it looks different for every organization, every leader, and every moment.

Sometimes what you need is a person. Sometimes it's a process. Sometimes it's a resource you didn't know existed. Sometimes you don't know what you need yet, and figuring that out together is where we start.

I take on a limited number of these engagements at a time. That's not a scarcity line; it's the actual model. This work only does what it's supposed to do if I can give real time and attention to the org I'm in, so I'm selective about which ones I say yes to. Right size, right time, right seat: not a role too big for the need, and not one that arrives before the org is ready for it.

Fractional Chief of Staff & COO

You need senior operational leadership, but a full-time hire isn't the right move yet. That's where fractional work comes in.

I embed in your organization on a part-time or project basis as a fractional Chief of Staff or COO, not consulting from a distance, not handing you a report and leaving. Actually in it with you. Planning, prioritizing, building infrastructure, managing culture, driving execution. The work that keeps the mission moving.

This is a good fit if:

  • You're a founder or executive director who needs a senior thinking partner and operator

  • Your organization is navigating growth, transition, or complexity

  • You're a leader doing too much and need someone to share the load

Engagements are flexible, project-based or ongoing, and structured around what you actually need, not a predetermined package.

Strategic Advisory & Organizational Consulting

Sometimes you don't need someone embedded. You need someone who can see clearly from the outside, ask the right questions, and help you make better decisions faster.

I work with leadership teams, co-founder pairs, and small organizations on the hardest things to solve from inside: role clarity, decision rights, organizational structure, team dynamics, and the places where good people are working hard but things still aren't landing.

This is a good fit if:

  • Your leadership team needs to get clearer on who owns what

  • You're a founder navigating a partnership or co-leadership dynamic

  • Your organization keeps hitting the same wall and isn't sure why

Where This Isn't the Fit

If the need is genuinely full-time, ongoing, and central enough to daily operations that this would just mean the work waits for the hours I have, that's a signal to hire, not a signal for me. I'd rather tell you that upfront than take the engagement anyway.

How It Works

Every engagement starts with a conversation. Not a sales pitch, a real conversation about what you're navigating, what you've already tried, and what might actually help. From there, we figure out together what the work looks like and how to structure it.

I work with a small number of clients at a time. That's intentional. It means every engagement gets real attention, not a template.

Not the Right Fit

If I'm not the right fit for you, I'll tell you. And I'll do my best to connect you with someone who is. I'm fortunate to have a wide network of colleagues, both individual practitioners and organizations, doing great work in coaching, consulting, fractional, and behavioral health.

“Her integrity was apparent in the way she worked and the way she interacted with her colleagues, regardless of their position on the org chart.”
— Judy Blair
“Rachel has a keen sense of what works in an organization and how to get it to work.”
— Elizabeth Butts
“She could run a risk analysis and a SWOT — and still knew that teams and strategy are what actually drive growth.”
